Little Rock Taekwondo for discipline?

That is the #1 reasons that parents decide to put their children in Martial Arts. Taekwondo has branded itself as the best martial art for this.  I admire and give credit for that accomplishment.  However there are some downfalls to TKD for your child and thus other martial arts that can help your child not only develop Discipline & Respect but also get in shape and learn how to actually defend themselves.  What are you going to do after your 5 year old is a black belt at the age of 8?  Has he really mastered anything?  Sure it feels good that he accomplished a goal but children, especially 7 and 8 year olds have no business being black belts.  Do a quick google images search for TKD and see how many pictures have kids or adults with their hands up in a position to defend themselves and make your own logical decisions on whether that is what you want for your child in a self defense situation.

You can read this article for some real information about TKD.  Unfortunately a lot of people end up with a bad taste in their mouths from watching their children coast through the ranks and end up leaving their martial arts career behind along with several uniforms and a ton of plastic weapons (why?????).  What kids need instead of a belt structure is a real focused program on fitness, self defense, respect and discipline.  I always suggest for parents that are unsure about what martial art to take to use their own intuition.  Which gym or art is going to provide the best long term results for child.  Try out our program of Judo and Jiu Jitsu for 30 days.  You will notice a lot of respectful and happy kids working hard, sweating and you will get to talk with some of the best parents I have ever met in the lobby.  Go to kidslovemartialartsinlittlerock.com for not only the free trial but also a free self defense video.

Finally watch this video of kids actually sparring and having fun while working hard. REAL dedication, REAL discipline and REAL hard work.
